You know! Google is an amazing weapon. Just the other day I received the following email from a distant cousin (I didn't know I had, but glad to hear from).

"We share the same name and the same love of bluegrass music (although I do not play, even poorly). I live in Jackson Mississippi. My Whitt line went from Va to Kentucky to Missouri (where I was born) to Texas. I have lived and worked in Arkansas, Illinois, Tennessee, and now Mississippi. I've been retired about a dozen years. I think most of the Whitt's descended from a John Whitt who came to America in the 1660's. He had 4 sons, 2 spedded their name Witt and 2 Whitt. I have taken a DNA test and found out I descended from Weward Whitt who was born 1685 in Virginia. Have you done an genealogy research on your line?"

I answered him back and ask how he happened to come across me. He returned with this email.
"Well, you were easy to find--I just googled Jerry Whitt and I think you were the second item on the google. It was strange because the first item in the google was an article I co-authored 35 years ago. I wonder why that is still around. Anyway, I guess we are cousins a few times removed. I believe there are a lot of Whitts in Ohio and Southwest Virginia. My particular line went to Lexington, Kentucky and then on to Northwest Missouri in the 1840's. My parents moved to Texas in 1950 and, as I indicated, my career has taken me around but always in the central time zone. My great-great Grandfather, Elijah Whitt, was the one who moved to Missouri and he had 25 kids so when I was a kid there were a lot of Whitts in Gallatin Missouri. I understand that there are not many left there now. Good to visit with you. Cousin Jerry Whitt"

Now! I've been playing around, for awhile, with a web page on "PbWiki.com" (which can be viewed under links). I never took it serious and was just having some fun with it. I had no idea that it was posted on Google, but there it is for all to see. Oh well I guess not many people would Google in a search for jerry whitt.
